SCOTTISH Provincial Press proudly presents the Moray & Banffshire Heroes awards.
Moray & Banffshire Heroes is an award scheme recognising the people in the Moray & Banffshire area who make a real difference to our communities, healthcare, education, safety and wellbeing.
Nominations are now open for this year's awards with a deadline for entries of midnight on Friday, March 1. Moray & Banffshire Heroes will culminate in an awards ceremony at the Mansefield Hotel on Thursday, May 9.
There are a total of 12 categories for nomination, as outlined below, with an additional 'Hero of Heroes' category which will be selected by the judges.
Categories and criteria
Primary Pupil sponsored by DYW Moray
A primary school pupil who has achieved something beyond expectations in education, sport or helping others at school.
Secondary Pupil sponsored by University of the Highlands and Islands, Moray College
A secondary pupil who has achieved something beyond expectations in education, sport or helping others at school.
Primary Teacher (available to sponsor)
A primary school teacher who has made a significant difference, beyond the normal expectations, to the learning experience of their pupils.
Secondary Teacher sponsored by Pitman Training
A secondary school teacher who has made a significant difference, beyond the normal expectations, to the learning experience of their pupils.
Carer sponsored by Excel Scotland
An individual who cares for a loved one and who has made personal sacrifices in order to tend to the needs of others.
Fundraiser sponsored by Sundancer
An individual who devotes his or her time and effort to raise funds for Highland charities or causes.
Volunteer sponsored by Clockstudio
An individual who has been beyond generous in volunteering their time and talents to help others.
Community Champion sponsored by MKM Builders
An individual who has made a significant contribution to their community.
Brave Child sponsored by Aberlour, Scotland's Children's Charity
A child who has overcome extreme adversity or shown exceptional courage or bravery.
Health Professional sponsored by M J Housden Optician
An individual within the healthcare sector who has provided a service above and beyond the call of duty, improving or making an impact on the quality of life of others.
Emergency Services or Armed Forces sponsored by Jetsgo Holidays
An outstanding member of the emergency services or armed forces who has gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Public Servant (available to sponsor)
An individual who has gone the extra mile in the delivery of their job, making a real difference to their service users, the organisation they work for or the community they work in.
Hero of Heroes sponsored by Springfield
The judges will make a special award to one of the 12 category winners.
