TWO men who killed a family’s pet geckos, which included putting one in a food blender, have been remanded in jail for two weeks.
Daniel Innes (20) and Jordan McIssac (18) had been at a house party in Aberchrider in March last year when they put the animal in the kitchen appliance and turned it on. They killed the other lizard when they dropped it.
The incident was filmed on a mobile phone and extensive damage was also done to the home.
They appeared at Banff Sheriff Court and admitted the charges earlier this year and Sheriff Philip Mann deferred sentence on them for three months to show they could be of good behaviour and offer to volunteer with the SSPCA.
Today they returned to court and the sheriff was told that the pair had offered to help out with animal charities but had been rejected by all of them. They had, however, made donations to the SSPCA.
Sheriff Mann said as there was no up-to-date social work report for Innes due to the young man failing to cooperate with the council department, McIssac had failed to comply with a previous community work order and a principal solicitor was not present at the hearing, he would defer sentence for two weeks and remand them in custody during that time.
