With the prolonged works to carrying out costly and future protection work to the Deveron Bridge to perhaps save it from destruction from other high tides and floods, is it not time for the local councillors to stand up and ask the Scottish and Westminster Governments to pay for a new crossing over the River Deveron?
Aberdeenshire Council figures showed that it would cost £600,000 to convert the former Trinity and Alvah Church into a much-needed new library for Banff.
I have been greatly concerned at the number of fishermen who are lost at sea on account of not wearing a lifejacket. Tragically it is now an all too frequent happening.
It came as no surprise to me and many others that with our recent change in our global weather patterns, the River Deveron did once more flood low level land and was once more a threat to the bridge which separates Macduff from Banff.
Sometimes, when we look around us and see the beautiful and tranquil area we live in, we forget that extremely exciting and deadly events occurred here in earlier years.
Re: 'Bachlaw residential school' (Banffie Sep 22). I have no argument that these special youngsters need help and that the jobs created would be welcome but why oh why does this mean the destruction of another green and beautiful place?
Your lead story 'Zombies in the High Street' (Banffshire Journal, September 1) highlights once again the late-night anti-social behaviour on the High Street, in particular the problems which have plagued The Gables guest house.
Having read 'Regal days indeed' (September 8) regarding the Regal Cinema in Macduff, it brought back many childhood memories of many happy visits with my late father Edward Elder, who was in fact the area manager for JB Milne Theatres of Dundee.
With this tragically being the month Robyn Oldham and Alexander Milne were killed leaving school transport in Aberdeenshire in 2008, and also years after Erin Beaty was left wheelchair-bound, we are encouraged to see Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City councils trying to implement school transport safety measures.
On Taking Issue with Alex Salmond MP (Banffshire Journal, August 4), the part with youths, etc needlessly losing lives, why in this age do safety people not make it law that people aged between 17 and 25 drive a car that can only go the speed of roads of 60mph?
Sir, – Further to your article 'Takeaway slams council on grant' published on July 21, I write to provide some information on the grants scheme that was referred to.
Sir, – In his regular column, 'Faith and Life As I See It' ('the Banffshire Journal', July 21), Rev David Randall talks disparagingly of the 'futility of godlessness'.
Sir, – On behalf of Whitehills and District Community Council, I would like to thank everyone involved in organising our evening gala parade in Whitehills on Saturday, July 18.
Sir, – The Coast team (staff, volunteers and board) would like to thank all the people of Banff and Macduff for supporting this year's festival, for making it such a successful event.
Sir, – Few would disagree that the former Trinity and Alvah Church is one of the finer buildings in Banff, and that Banff Library is not fit for purpose.
Sir, – My name is Alex Crawford (Sandy to my family and friends). I was born in the Royal Burgh of Banff in Banffshire in 1946, and like many other Banffshire residents I left home in 1964 and moved to North America.
Sir, – Can anyone tell me how come taxpayers' money to the value of a substantial four-bedroom house is being spent on an small extension to the harbour master's office, comprising a few showers and toilets?
Sir, – Our Community Council (Aberchirder and Marnoch) is delighted to note that road signs have been erected to remind people of the existence, until 1975, of the historic county of Banffshire.
