Reckless cycling – William Steel, residing with his father, Alex Steel, Blackloanhead, Banff, was charged in Banff Sheriff Court with having ridden a bicycle in a reckless and furious manner along a public road between Ordiquhill and the railway station.
Tarlair protest – Macduff Town Council's intention to open Tarlair Pool on a Sunday was strongly criticised by the Lord's Day Observance Society. In a letter read out to the council at their last meeting, the society stated that it wished to lodge a protest after hearing that the opening ceremony was to be conducted on May 25, a Sunday.
Smokers fight back – A bid to completely ban smoking at a meeting of a local community council went up in a puff of smoke, as the smoking fraternity won an important concession. The cigarette smokers of Portsoy Community Council were shocked to discover 'no-smoking' signs displayed at their recent meeting in the upstairs hall of the town hall.
