FOLLOWING a recent visit to Macduff after nearly 30 years, I was heartbroken to see the state of Tarlair Swimming Pool. I have very happy memories of spending my summers there.
LIKE many other readers I was so pleased to learn that Tarlair Pool has become a listed building. When I last visited in 2004 it had a slightly sinister air and I feared it was to be left to the sea's mercies.
ONCE upon a time bathers would dance the conga around the edge of the Tarlair paddling pool to mark the end of the summer season, according to 'Banffshire Journal' readers, who have written to the paper to express their delight at the pool's new A-listed status.
MEMORIES of the way Tarlair used to be have come flooding back since the news broke two weeks ago that the outdoor swimming pool has been category A-listed.
I HAVE a fund of memories of Tarlair dating from the fifties onwards. In the summer holidays I had a season ticket to get in - rain or shine my friends and I would be at the 'pool'.
I LEARNED to swim at Tarlair back in 1960. It was a lovely place but you had to be hardy as the water was, oftener than not, very cold. Of course, being a Macduff Loon, I can remember Tarlair for well over 50 years.
I WOULD just like to let you know that my wife and I have been coming up to Pennan on holiday now for the last nine years. Every time we visit Tarlair and never get fed up of seeing it. We have even taken our two young children there, and they loved it.
