Two shoot to Scottish title

Banff and Macduff Rifle Club members, winners of this year's Perthshire Summer League, are setting their sights on a busy winter when they will take part in four different leagues. Among those competing from their base at the indoor range at Banff Castle are Leonard Thomson (left) and Bill Copland. They won the pairs sharpshooter competition at the Scottish Championships at Castletown, Caithness, in the summer and the week-long competition proved particularly successful for Banff joiner Thomson (26). He gained promotion into the X class by coming second in class A, giving Banff and Macduff three members in the elite X class, and he also gained his first cap for Scotland when, competing along with regular Copland, he achieved the top score as Scotland secured a home international victory against England.
