CORNHILL'S Tug of War team will represent Scotland at the European Championships later this month.
The team qualified for the event at Minehead, in England, by winning the 640kg weight class at the Scottish Championship during Stirling Highland Games earlier this year.
The squad will compete in the club event during the first two days, then will pull on the Scotland shirts for the weekend contest.
They will compete against 94 teams from 16 countries.
Coach David McKenzie said they had been getting valuable help in their training sessions.
He said: "The 17 Port and Maritime Army team trained with us for three nights in preparation for the British Inter Service Championship, which is held at Braemar Highland Games.
"The team are based in Southampton and each year they stay at Aviemore for two weeks prior to the games.
"They contacted us to get some live pulling before the event and we were more than happy because it was also ideal training for us.
"Both teams got on really well and they are coming back next year after they came second at Braemar - their best ever result.
"The Cornhill team have put in a lot of hard work this year after losing some members and are training well and in high spirits for the European Championship."
