PORTSOY youngster Scott Simpson has taken the first steps towards hitting
his target of a career in the world of professional darts.
The 14-year-old Banff Academy third-year pupil is one of a growing number of teenagers playing regular competitive darts, turning out for every other week for Buckie club JiC’s, who have already secured the Division 2 championship title and promotion to the top division in the town’s licensed trade darts league.
Playing alongside his father, Lennox Estate gamekeeper Ivor, who has been one of the top performers in the Keith and Buckie leagues in recent years, Scott has more then held his own against seasoned adult players this season.
Now, he is set to join the Scottish Darts Association’s Moray academy, one of six local regional set-ups aimed at producing the sport’s next generation of top-class professionals.
