TURRIFF United twice fought back from a goal down in their match against Buckie Thistle at Victoria Park on Saturday but it was not enough as the Jags won 3-2.

With nine minutes left, Turriff had managed to level the game at 2-2 but a fierce strike from Andrew Gardiner made sure Buckie secured the three points.

Turriff controlled the opening stages with Gary Harris having a couple of chances to open the scoring.

However, Buckie got the first goal when keeper Darren Strong's ball found Zander Sutherland and he rounded Steven Coutts before slotting the ball into the empty net.

On the half hour, Turriff equalised when Robert Allan's corner fell to Jerry O'Driscoll and he touched the ball over the line. The Buckie players called for a foul on Strong, but the goal was given.

Turriff continued to put pressure on the Buckie defence but chances from Harris, Mark Simpson and O'Driscoll could not find the net.

Strong then pulled off a fine save to deny Donald Fraser as the first half came to an end.

Buckie doubled their lead in the 56th minute when Sutherland whipped in a cross which was found by Craig Macmillan and he made no mistake with his effort.

O'Driscoll then played in Harris, who fired across goal but Hamish Munro was on hand to clear the danger.

Turriff equalised again when substitute Sam Muirhead sent in a low cross. Donald Fraser was quickest to react and he tapped the ball into the net.

Buckie scored what proved to be the winner on 81 minutes when Macmillan laid the ball off to Gardiner, who fired it off the underside of the bar and into the net from 25 yards out.
