Landowners will reap the profits

I agree wholeheartedly with the contents of the letter from the Marnoch and Deveron Valley Protection Group about wind turbines in last week’s ‘Banffshire Journal’.

Soon, the beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside will resemble one huge industrial wind turbine site.

Onshore wind energy is not the cheapest renewable option.

When consideration is given to the intermittency of the wind, the loss of landscape, noise pollution, wildlife habitat loss, and the negative impact on property prices, does onshore wind really make sense except to the landowner and developer making a profit?

Renewable energy subsidies will add a considerable sum to consumer bills this year, and will keep rising. The consumer is actually footing the bill for these turbines by paying higher electricity bills than necessary. Has anyone had a reduction in energy costs because of their development? Of course not; all profits go to the landowner and developer.

It really is about time the council said no more wind turbines in Aberdeenshire.
