Huntly singer on national stage

HUNTLY musician Iona Fyfe was one of six finalists in the BBC Radio Scotland Traditional Young Musician of the Year on Sunday.

She performed Scots songs as part of the Celtic Connections Festival which was broadcast live from the City Halls in Glasgow.

The winner was fiddler Charlie Stewart from Perthshire.

The other finalists were: Dougie McCance, bagpipes (Glasgow), Ella Munro, Scots song (Skye), Grant McFarlane, accordion (Paisley) and Kim Carnie, Gaelic song (Oban).
