CAR owners on Clashmach Drive and Scott Drive in Huntly are counting the cost after their vehicles were damaged in a vandalism spree overnight between Saturday and Sunday.

The wing mirrors were ripped off both vehicles owned by Tom and Sonia Webster.

Tom, whose work van for his painter decorator business was one of the vehicles said: "It's just annoying and hassle I could do fine without, not to mention the expense of getting them repaired.

"It's not worth claiming insurance but it will still be a good amount of money to get them fixed."

Ian Fowler thinks he may have heard the vandals in action around 2.30am, but did not get up, thinking it was wheelie bins which were being kicked.

He said: "It's going to cost £183 to get my car fixed. That's an expense I could do fine without as I have its MOT coming up too. I hope the police catch whoever was responsible but it's not sounding much like they will."

A total of five cars were damaged and police are appealing for witnesses.

Constable Joe Hargreaves said: "We are asking the public in the area to check their vehicles for any damage that could have been caused and for them to report it to us. If anyone saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area around 2.30am on Sunday, November 19, I would urge them to contact us."

To pass on any information call 101 quoting reference 1090 of 19/11 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous.
