THE £3m scheme to prevent flooding in Huntly is progressing well.
Work started last October and is on course to be completed by the summer.
The next phase will see the A920, which connects Huntly to Dufftown, closed for three weeks from February 1.
Philip McKay, head of roads at Aberdeenshire Council, said: "We appreciate that a road closure at this time of year is less than ideal, especially as the diversion is significant.
"The only alternative option would be to delay the culvert work until later in the year, with a knock-on effect for the delivery of the overall flood scheme.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused but I'm sure local people will understand it is for the greater good of the town."
